Stunning finish at the NYC Marathon

Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai set a course record today in the ING New York Marathon, running nearly three minutes faster than the previous course record that had stood for a decade.

Geoffrey Mutai finished in 2 hours, 5 minutes and 6 seconds, breaking the old record of 2:07:43 set by Ethiopia‘s Tesfaye Jifar in 2001.

Emmanuel Mutai (not related to Geoffrey Mutai) finished second in 2:06:28, and Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia was in third at 2:07:14.

Meb Keflezighi ( The top american finisher ), took sixth place, with a time of 2:09:13.

Firehiwot Dado, 27, won the women’s division in her first running of this event, with a time of 2:23:15.
